James Houston Buddy SCOTT

February 14, 1930 — June 21, 2010

McMinnville resident and Warren County native James Houston "Buddy" Scott, age 80, was born February 14, 1930 and died June 21, 2010 at the Webb House in Smithville, TN following an extended illness. A retired employee of the United States Postal Service, United States Army veteran and member of the East End Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Marcum Vestol and Sally Kesey Scott. He was a former commander of American Legion Post 173. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, M.L. "Sam" Scott. He is survived by two sons, James Mark Scott and Houston Lee Scott both of McMinnville; one grandson and two great-grandsons; sister-in-law, Carol Winters Scott of McMinnville; niece, Elizabeth Scott Damron of Pittsburgh, PA and two great-nieces, Laura Damron and husband Aleksandr Zasedatelev of McMinnville and Emily Damron of Boston, MA. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 in High's Chapel with Kevin Key officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
