JR., J.C. SLATTON

McMinnville resident and Warren County native J.C. Slatton, Jr., age 85, was born June 1, 1925 and died August 27, 2010 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. The retired owner of Woodbury Stone and member of the Central Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Julius C. and Rowena Cope Slatton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Ruby Smith Bragg Slatton; sister, Clydie Slatton; step-sister, Rhea Boyd and step-brother, Tom Bragg. He served his community as an elected commissioner of the Warren County Court from 1978-1986, was past president of the Tennessee Crushed Stone Association, served on executive committees of the Black Fox Boy Scout District, was director of Citizen State Bank, past member of Exchange Club and Rotary Club, director of Warren County Utility District, member of Southern Senior Golf Association and Volunteer State Senior Golf Association and served as director of McMinnville Country Club. He was married January 16, 1954 to Flo Dunbar Slatton of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, J.C. "Jay" and Elbia Slatton, III of McMinnville; daughter, Kathy Bonnin of Milwaukee, WI; four grandchildren, Olivia Slatton, Yvonne Bonnin Krueger, Laurene Page Slatton and Valeria Slatton; two great-grandchildren, Emma Mae and Grant Krueger; sister, Virginia Hammer of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Janie Bragg of McMinnville and nieces and nephews, Brenda Martin, Debbie Jacobs, Jay Bragg, Bee Patterson and McQuiddy Bragg. A graveside service and interment was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Mt. View Cemetery with James Vandiver officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Church of Christ Retirement Center or the charity of your choice.
