John Thomas STARKEY

Spencer, TN resident and Warren County native John Thomas Starkey, age 70, was born January 1, 1940 and died June 4, 2010 at his residence following a lingering illness. A retired employee of the Tennessee Department of Safety, United States Army veteran and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late James Isaiah and Viola Beatrice Stewart Starkey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Jimmy Edward Starkey and sister, Betty Sue Starkey. He was married January 2, 1960 to Sarah Marie Pack Starkey of Spencer, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, John Thomas and Barbara Starkey of Crossville, TN and James Monroe Starkey of Spencer, TN; two grandsons, Ryan Alan Starkey and Justin Clay Starkey both of Spencer, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Willie Paul and Shirley Starkey of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 in High's Chapel with Dennis Deweese officiating. Burial followed in the Long Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.
