William Eugene SWEENEY

Doyle, TN resident and Buchanan County, VA native William Eugene Sweeney, age 81, was born January 6, 1929 and died February 20, 2010 at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following an extended illness. A boiler operator with Great Lakes Steel in Detroit, MI and member of the Westwood Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Irvin and Bertha Alice Owens Sweeney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Grissom Sweeney and brothers, Paul, Burns and Roy Sweeney. He is survived by his wife, Anna Pearl Dodson Sweeney of Doyle, TN; daughter, Alice Faye Sweeney of New Columbia, PA; two step-sons and their spouses, Mike and Nancy Jones of McMinnville and Wayne and Nancy McNeal of Doyle, TN; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Shae and Bobby Fults, Andi Jones, Sonny and Lou McNeal, Jason and Heather McNeal, Jennifer and Joey Ross, Joanna McNeal, Carson and Holly McNeal and Conner McNeal; five great-grandchildren, Payton Cantrell, Alexis Fults, Saxxon and Sophia Ross, Anna Bella McNeal and expected great-grandchild, Jude McNeal. A graveside service and interment was held Monday, February 22, 2010 at Mt. View Cemetery Hwy. 30 with Coy Hathcock officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the .
