Laverne Joyce WHITEAKER

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Laverne Joyce Whiteaker, age 79, was born June 30, 1930 and died June 27, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following a brief illness. A retired employee of River Park Hospital and member of Shellsford Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Claude Monroe and Jewell Walker Holland. She was married November 30, 1946 to John H. Whiteaker who preceded her in death April 9, 2000. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Johnny L. Whiteaker; daughter, Janet Sue Brock; three brothers, Chester, Jack and George Holland and two sisters, Mattie Thompson and Ruby Byrd. She is survived by one son, Kenneth Whiteaker of McMinnville; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Doris and Ronald Holland both of McMinnville, Donald Holland of Eagleville, TN and Earl Holland of Lavergne, TN; two sisters, Annie Burbage and Johnnie Maxwell both of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in High's Chapel with David Royalty officiating. Burial followed in the Shellsford Cemetery.
