John Edgar YOUNG

McMinnville resident and Manchester, TN native John Edgar Young, age 76, was born February 27, 1934 and died November 15, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following an extended illness. A retired detective with the McMinnville Police Department, United States Air Force veteran and member of the Salem Church of Christ, he was the son of the late John A. and Grace C. Adcock Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Buddy Young and daughter Janet Sue Young. He was married February 14, 1958 to Shizue Nakamura Young of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Barbara Boyd of McMinnville; son, John G. Young of McMinnville; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Ray Bauer of McMinnville; brother and sister-in-law, Bill D. and Shirley Young of Doyle, TN; four grandchildren, Ryan Boyd and Kristy, Craig Boyd and Maria, Tosha Young and Ali Young and great-granddaughter, Alyssa Boyd. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in High's Chapel with Phillip Rowland officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory with full military honors administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
