Murfreesboro, TN resident and Warren County native Ranse Anderson, age 79, was born May 8, 1932 and died December 23, 2011 at his residence following a brief illness. He was a member of the East End Church of Christ and was the son of the late Sam and Mildred Durham Davis Anderson. After graduating from City Grammar High School he attended MTSU and the University of Tennessee Knoxville, where he marched with the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. Since the age of twelve, Ranse played with the Silver and Gold Band in McMinnville. He served in the United States Army and retired from State Farm Insurance after thirty-two years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Vicki Lynn Anderson; brother, Charles Anderson and sister, Barbara Hullett. He was married December 28, 1956 to Jean Butcher Anderson of Murfreesboro, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Mike Anderson of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Phillip Moore of Murfreesboro, TN; beloved granddaughter, Michelle Lynn Moore of Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters and brother-in-law, Judy and Bill Gjebre of Miami, FL and Betty Coss of McMinnville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Ann Anderson of Dunlap, TN and Gene and Mary Ann Anderson of Missouri and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brenda Perry, Willard and Betty Jean Butcher, Bud and Barbara Butcher and Helen Butcher all of McMinnville. He was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews and had a faithful cat, Mac. A graveside service and interment was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2011 at Mt. View Cemetery with Garland Robinson officaiting. Full military honors were administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
