Irene Elizabeth McGee BARNES

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Irene Elizabeth McGee Barnes, age 99, was born October 9, 1911 and died February 21, 2011 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A retired employee of Garden Plants, Inc. and member of the Mt. Leo Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Minerva Douglas McGee. She was married to Alton Barnes who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law, Zelma and Bud Simmons; grandson, Ray Simmons; great-granddaughter, Ashley Simmons; eight brothers and three sisters. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Bobby Joe Davenport of McMinnville and June and Phillip Gribble of Rock Island, TN; five grandchildren, Mike Simmons (Brenda), Tony Simmons and Pam Harris (Tommy) all of McMinnville, Keri Davenport of Brentwood, TN and Phyllis Kamacho (Louie) of Goodlettsville, TN; four great-grandchildren, Codie Simmons, Tara Barks, Destanie Bullard and Lucian Simmons and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2011 in High's Chapel with Titus Ward and Lane Dix officiating. Burial followed in the Center Hill Cemetery @ Hills Creek.
