Mae Ellen BARNETT

Altamont, TN resident and Grundy County, TN native Mae Ellen Barnett, age 79, was born April 14, 1932 and died August 17, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness. A homemaker and member of the Long Mountain Community Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Myrtle Sanders Meeks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, James Clendenon, four brothers, D.W., Claudie, Orville and Willie Raymond Meeks and three sisters, Mabel Lee Meeks, Ida Mae Moore and Marie Maxwell. She was married April 9, 1962 to Bob Gene Barnett of Altamont, TN. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Ronald Roberts of McMinnville; two daughters, Elaine Sparks of Cullman, AL and Vicki Thomas of McMinnville; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; two sisters, Jewel Rigsby of Chattanooga, TN and Della Pease of Beersheba Springs, TN and two half-brothers, Tommy Meeks of Fayetteville, TN and James King of McMinnville. A graveside service and interment was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Fall Creek Cemetery in Grundy County, TN with Ed Fults officiating.
