McMinnville resident and DeKalb County, TN native Wallon Cantrell, age 80, was born February 4, 1931 and died March 10, 2011 at River Park Hospital following a three-month illness. Mr. Cantrell was self-employed in home remodeling and a member of the Church of Christ. He was the son of the late Thomas P. and Ressie Frances Cope Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Willard Cantrell and great-granddaughter, Mylie Beth Cantrell. He was married to his loving wife of fifty-five years, Sue Drake Cantrell of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Michael Cantrell and wife Pam, Rickey Cantrell, Lisa Cantrell Foster and Melody Cantrell Perez all of McMinnville; thirteen grandchildren, Michael Burks, Cristy Brady, Crystal Cantrell, Casey Cantrell, Travis Cantrell, Trent Cantrell, Rickey Cantrell, JR., Jasper Cantrell, Christopher Foster, Leila Foster, Britton Cantrell, Anah Perez and Shelby Elkins; ten great-grandchildren and two brothers and sister-in-law, Larkin and Jean Cantrell and Hansel Cantrell both of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 in High's Chapel with Charlie Pearson, Bruce Atnip and Clarence Foster officiating. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery.
