Willie Mae West CATES

McMinnville resident and DeKalb County, TN native Willie Mae West Cates, age 85, was born July 11, 1925 and died April 21, 2011 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A homemaker and member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Hester Lee and Daisy Cantrell West. She was married to Grady Walker Cates who preceded her in death in 1987. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brother, I.D. West. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Joe Womack of McMinnville; two sons and daughter-in-law, Joel and Lois Cates and Tony Cates both of McMinnville; three grandchildren and their spouses, Mary Lee and Eric Walker, Bryan Cates and Bill and Carrie St. John all of McMinnville; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Curtis, Helen Martin and Virginia Beckwith all of McMinnville; two brothers, Luther West of McMinnville and Tom West of Huntsville, AL and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service and interment was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at Mt. View Cemetery with John Vaughan officiating.
