McMinnville resident and Warren County native Phillip Wayne Coppinger, Sr., age 83, was born August 25, 1927 and died June 23, 2011 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN following an extended illness. A retired employee of the State of Tennessee, United States Army veteran of WWII and Korea and member of the Lakewood Baptist Church in Beechgrove, TN, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mabel Barnes Coppinger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, T.L., Junior and Winfred Coppinger. He was married to Daphene Curtis Coppinger of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Phillip Coppinger, Jr. of McMinnville; three grandchildren, Brittanie Marie Coppinger of White Bluff, TN, Valerie Celeste Coppinger Delaby of Donelson, TN and Alyssa Nycole Coppinger of Mt. Juliet, TN; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan, Logan and Kaylee; sister, Sarah Coppinger of El Paso, TX and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 in High's Chapel with Tim Farris officiating. Burial followed in the Center Hill Cemetery @ Hills Creek with full military honors administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
