McMinnville resident and Lincoln County, TN native Frances Laverne Poole Denton, age 98, was born December 7, 1912 and died February 6, 2011 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness. A retired bookkeeper with Formfit Rogers and member of First United Methodist Church, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Alice Hayes Poole. She was married to James Virgil Denton who preceded her in death October 28, 1993. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Adelia D. Gipson and four sisters, Louise Akin, Laurene Hatcher, Doris Shirey and Robbie Farrar. She served as president of the Wesleyan Service Guild and worked as a leader in the Good Neighbor Program at First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing duplicate bridge with her friends and fishing with her daughter, Adelia and other family members. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Diane D. and Larry B. Stanley of McMinnville; three grandsons, Larry B. Stanley, Jr. and wife Melissa, LTC (R) Corey Z. Gipson and wife Becky and LTC (R) Gerry Bruce Gipson and wife Renee; granddaughter, Mary Frances Parker and husband Rusty; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her devoted caretakers at Raintree Manor. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at First United Methodist Church. Burial was at Mt. View Cemetery.
