McMinnville resident and Jellico, TN native Mary Delia Denton, age 92, was born June 30, 1918 and died January 12, 2011 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following a two-month illness. A retired clerk at Lay's 5&10 and member of the Church of God, she was the daughter of the late William Wiley and Mary Elizabeth McCulla Walden. She was married to William J.B. Denton who preceded her in death May 28, 1993. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Bryan Denton, Sr.; two grandsons, Robert Bryan Neely and Charles Michael Haley; brothers and sisters, Walter, Julie, Della, Silas, Ora, Bessie, Magdaline, James, Everett and Lawrence. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Doris Haley and Deloris and Shirley Jones both of McMinnville; son, Kermit Denton of McMinnville; daughter-in-law, Jacine Denton of McMinnville; six grandchildren, Bryan Denton, Julia Slaughter, Roxann Campbell, Richard Denton, Monty Jones and Crystal Pedigo all of McMinnville; ten great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 in High's Chapel with Anthony Wanamaker and Jackie Matheny officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory.
