Ollen Marshal HAYES

McMinnville resident and Cannon County, TN native Ollen Marshal Hayes, age 87, was born December 3, 1924 and died December 18, 2011 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A retired employee of General Motors, United States Army veteran of WWII and lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion, he was the son of the late Isaac Lee and Dolly Sadler Hayes. He was married to Jimmie Ann Walker Hayes who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wilber Hayes and two sisters, Lucille Kennedy and Geneva Gentry. He is survived by special friend, Vida Fann of McMinnville; son, Michael Hayes of McMinnville; daughter, Patricia Sliger of Panama City, FL; step-daughter, Peggy Stevens of Wyoming; brother, Leonard and Rowena Hayes of Sparta, TN; sister, Virginia and Jack Boles of Muncie, IN; nine grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in High's Parlor with Kevin Burden officiating. Burial followed in the Saylors Cemetery in White County, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
