Preston Edwin HILLIS

Rock Island, TN resident and Florence, AL native Preston Edwin Hillis, age 88, was born March 16, 1923 and died November 4, 2011 at his residence following a short illness. A retired steamfitter with the Tennessee Valley Authority where he was a member of Local Union #102 and United States Army veteran of WWII, he was the son of the late James H. and Sarah Mae Hennessee Hillis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Peter Preston Hillis; brothers, Asey, James and L.C. Hillis and sister, Barbara Huntington. He was married to Jenny Whitworth Hillis of Rock Island, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Madison and Jill Hillis of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters and son-in-law, Sisi Wilson Kinnard of Lebanon, TN, Rebecca Kay Hillis Inman of Kingston, TN and Patsy and Jimmy Campbell of Lafollette, TN; six grandchildren, Jennifer Russell, Sarah Cloud Wilson, Brandy Ward, Aaron Campbell, Cindy Harkrider and James Vickery; five great-grandchildren, Lexi Russell and Evan, A.J., Peyton and Jody Harkrider; sister-in-law, Virginia Hillis and nieces and nephews, Peggy Bailey, Frances Moore, Gale Hillis and Jack, Jimmy Ray, Preston Earl, James Michael and Terry Lee Hillis. Mr. and Mrs. Hillis were also foster parents for fourteen years. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in High's Chapel with Titus Ward officiating. Burial followed in the Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
