Mildred Juanita Davenport MARTIN

July 21, 1933 — February 5, 2011

Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County native Mildred Juanita Davenport Martin, age 77, was born July 21, 1933 and died February 5, 2011 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. A retired supervisor at Rockford Textile Mill and member of the Fall City Baptist Church where she served as as Sunday School teacher and song leader for many years, she was the daughter of the late Charlie A. and Ercie Jones Davenport. She was married to James E. "John" Martin who preceded her in death in 1993. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Victola and Malissie Louise Davenport; two brothers, Jessie and James Davenport; half-sisters, Rilla Masey and Mattie Campbell and two half-brothers, Delter and Ferman Davenport. She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Hilda Sue and Edwin Copeland of Annapolis, MD; nephews and their spouses, Bob and Susie Davenport, of McMinnville, Ed and Diane Copeland and Dave and Cheryl Copeland both of Maryland, Jim and Patricia Davenport of Mt. Juliet, TN, Gary and Barbara Davenport of Manchester, TN, Paul and Jacqueline Davenport of Birmingham, AL and Fisher, Jr. and Peggy Campbell of Hixson, TN; nieces and their spouses, Norma and Clarence Patton of Huntsville, AL, Cheryl Priest of McMinnville, Martha McMahan of Manchester, TN, Linda and Tony Ferrell of Beech Grove, TN, Faye Coleman of Nashville, TN, Sherry Doak of Murfreesboro, TN, Diane and Steve Little of Lafayette, GA and Janice and Mike Kelly of Rossville, GA; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Davenport Hesler of McMinnville and Penny Malone Martin of Rock Island, TN and many extended family and friends. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 in High's Chapel with Rev. Carl Smith and Joey Spicer officiating. Burial followed in the New Bybee Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Angel Fund at Raintree Manor Nursing Home where the staff loved and cared for her.
