McMinnville resident and Warren County native Harold Brown Mayfield, age 85, was born September 14, 1925 and died July 5, 2011 at his residence following a short illness. A retired employee of Hardaway Construction, United States Navy veteran of WWII and member of the Mt. Leo Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Waymon and Eva Higginbotham Mayfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Gloria Jean McClain and brother, T.F. "Buck" Mayfield. He is survived by three daughters, Beverly Mayfield of Virginia Beach, VA, Pamela Traynor of Des Plains, IL and Sharon Troccoli of Centerville, IA; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers and sister-in-law, Frank and Joyce Mayfield and Waymon A. Mayfield both of McMinnville; two sisters, Alma Haley of Denton, TX and Bobbie Langley of Nashville, TN; several nieces, nephews, family members, friends and special friend, Arlene Gross of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 in High's Chapel with Lane Dix officiating. Burial followed in the Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
