McMinnville resident and Dellrose, TN native Lera Mae Nowlin, age 92, was born June 26, 1918 and died April 17, 2011 at River Park Hospital following a sudden illness. A retired employee of McMinnville Garment Factory and member of the Methodist A.M.E. Church, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Roy and Bessie Mae Carter Curtis. She was married to Fred Leslie Nowlin who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, William "Bill" Nowlin; sister, Virginia Curtis Eberhart; brothers, L.V. Curtis and William Curtis and daughter-in-law, Peggy Lewis Nowlin. She is survived by three daughters, Freddie Nowlin, Joyce Nowlin and Phyllis Nowlin all of McMinnville; three sons, Charles Nowlin of Old Hickory, TN, James Nowlin of Murfreesboro, TN and Steve Nowlin of McCormick, SC; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Georgia "Kate" Curtis of Murfreesboro, TN and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 in High's Chapel with Eddie Vance and Mark Carrigan officiating. Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery.
