Larry D. POPPLEWELL

Smithville, TN resident and New Castle, IN native Larry D. Popplewell, age 69, was born August 19, 1941 and died August 15, 2011 at his residence following a sudden illness. A retired employee of General Motors and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Homer B. and Allene South Popplewell. He was married June 3, 1967 to Peggy Bratcher Popplewell of Smithville, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert L. Popplewell of Maynardville, TN and Larry B.J. Popplewell of Murfreesboro, TN; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and John Robertson of Kansas City, MO, Kathy Popplewell and Chuck Strong of Robinson, IL and Glenda and Gary Carter of Smithville, TN; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Corine Popplewell of Anderson, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Ike Grundwald of Box Elder, SD; sister at heart, Rose Ann Spitz of Pendleton, IN and special friends, George and Diana King of Walling, TN. A graveside service and interment was held at 6:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2011 at Centertown Cemetery with Kenneth Bratcher and Barry Boggs officiating.
