Morrison, TN resident and Rutherford County, TN native Bobby Lloyd Prater, age 82, was born January 11, 1929 and died September 28, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Prater graduated from McMinnville Central High School in 1947. He retired from Magnetek Century Electric in 1992 following thirty-two years of service. He was an icon of the Morrison Community, and will be sorely missed. He was a member of the Morrison Church of Christ, and served honorably as an elder for over twenty-five years. For many years, he was the secretary/treasurer for Sunny Acres Children's Home. In 1983 he received Fireman of the Year from the Morrison Fire Department, where he served as fire chief for over half a century and had been a member since its inception. He also served as president of the Fire Chief's Association. In 2002, the Morrison Community recognized him as the Morrison Ruritan Citizen of the Year. Alderman, vice-mayor and mayor of Morrison were titles her wore as an esteemed citizen. He was married June 27, 1949 to his wife of sixty-two years, Gladys Young Prater of Morrison ,TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Pam Grizzle of Morrison, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Roxanne Prater of Morrison, TN; grandson, Cain Prater; granddaughter, Chelsey Grissom and husband Mike; great-grandson, Aiden Grissom; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Teresa Prater of Morrison, TN; sister-in-law, Flossie Warren and husband Buell of McMinnville; brother-in-law, Millard Young and wife Jean of Woodbury, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Morrison Church of Christ with Roger Comstock officiating. Burial followed in the Morrison Cemetery.
