McMinnville resident and Asheville, NC native David Memory Pruitt, age 60, was born July 27, 1951 and died November 7, 2011 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN following a one-year illness. Mr. Pruitt was a United States Navy veteran of Vietnam where he served on the ship USS Shenandoah. He spent twenty-five years in law enforcement, serving twenty years in Warren County and also serving in Jackson County, Cannon County, Overton County and Monterey City Police. He was the son of the late Tommy and Mary Miller Pruitt. He was married November 28, 1971 to Marlane Colvin Pruitt of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Shawn and Jimmy Patterson of Cookeville, TN and Missy Patton of McMinnville; five grandchildren, Austin Patterson, Chris Patton, Nikki Patterson, Katie Patterson and David Patton; two sisters and brother-in-law, Carol Fish of Chandler, NC and Kathy and Barry Bowman of Franklin, NC and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Jackie Matheny officiating. Full military honors were administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064 at the church.
