Alfred Donald RAMSEY

Alfred D. Ramsey was called to be with the Lord and join his beloved wife, Norma L. (Stubblefield) Ramsey, on August 31st, 2011. Left to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life and memory are two daughters: Adrienne LoRay of South Orange, NJ and Angela Bryant of Peachtree City, GA; one son-in-law, Robert LoRay; three grandchildren, Esha Ramsey, Phillip LoRay, and Brandon Bryant; one brother; William Ramsey of McMinnville, TN; four sisters-in-law Wilma Stubblefield and Marcia Ramsey of McMinnville, TN, Joe Ella Ramsey of Dayton, OH and Marguerite Cooley of Manchester, TN; one brother-in-law Leronzo Cooley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Alfred was born in Warren County, TN on September 2nd, 1932 to Edd Ramsey and Annie Mae (Stokes) Ramsey who preceded him in death. Alfred wed Norma Stubblefield on September 16th, 1956 at Clark United Methodist Church. Alfred joined the Air Force on March 9th, 1953. He served his country for more than 23 years and retired as a SMSGT on June 1st, 1976. Not to be idle for too long, Alfred worked as a maintenance supervisor for Carrier/United Technologies in Morrison, TN and retired on December 1st, 1990. Although Alfred spent time in many parts of the world, he spent the past four years of his life in Peachtree City, GA being loved by his children, son-in-law, grandchildren and many new friends but, McMinnville was always home. Alfred was known for his gift of gab; he never met a stranger. He loved hanging out with family and friends sharing his military stories of old. Alfred enjoyed all genres of music as evidenced by his huge collection of CDs, cassette tapes and albums; however, Blues was his favorite. Alfred was very generous and was loved by many. Donations may be made in honor of Alfred to the American Lung Association. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2011 in High's Chapel with Rev. Eddie Vance officiating. Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery with full military honors administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
