JR., Horace E. RAMSEY

Morrison, TN resident and Coffee County, TN native Horace E. Ramsey, Jr., age 88, was born September 25, 1922 and died February 5, 2011 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN following a brief illness. A retired dairy farmer, employee of the Agriculture and Soil Conservation Service and Sr. Mapper with the State of Tennessee Comptroller's Office, he was the son of the late Horace E. and Vista Simmons Ramsey, Sr. Mr. Ramsey was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Sue Cartwright in 2008; two sisters, Atenas Clark and Elizabeth Stubblefield and brother, Woodrow W. Ramsey. He was married March 5, 1941 to Avare Ramsey of Morrison, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Larry W. Ramsey, Sr. of Lebanon, TN; three grandchildren, Marlene Cartwright of Decatur, AL, Michael Cartwright of McMinnville and Larry Ramsey, Jr. of Smyrna, GA; five great-grandchildren, Zachary and Ethan Cartwright both of McMinnville and Jack, Madeline and Anna Ramsey of Smyrna, GA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2011 in High's Chapel with Nestor Stewart officiating. Burial followed in the Morrison Cemetery.
