McMinnville resident and Warren County native Jack Love Slatton, age 82, was born December 2, 1928 and died July 3, 2011 at the V.A. Medical Center in Nashville, TN following a brief illness. A retired employee of Century/Magnetek, United States Army veteran of Korea and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Dewey and Willie Sanders Slatton. Mr. Slatton was an active member of the VFW Post 5064 where he served on the Honor Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Grey Slatton. He was married November 28, 1953 to Maxine Evans Slatton of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kreta Slatton of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Sallie and Issac Slatton of McMinnville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Fletcher and Peggy Slatton of Nashville, TN and Jim and June Slatton and Billy Joe and Joy Slatton both of McMinnville; two sisters, Lady Ruth Veach and Patsy Austin both of McMinnville; sisters-in-law, Judy Cunningham, Diane Templeton and Shirley Evans all of McMinnville; brother-in-law, Fred Evans of McMinnville; special friend, Shirley Wilson of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in High's Chapel with Titus Ward officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW and American Legion Honor Guard c/o High's.
