McMinnville resident and Warren County native Wilma Charlene Smartt, age 79, was born November 7, 1931 and died August 11, 2011 at River Park Hospital following a short illness. A homemaker and member of the Madison Street Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Wavie Roberts Curtis. She was married to George Floyd Smartt, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1998. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Green Woods. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shanna and Robbie Hillis of McMinnville; step-son, Jeff Lowry and wife Kristy of Lubbock, TX; four grandchildren, Laurie Holt and husband Jeremy of McMinnville, Karmell Noe of Decatur, AL, Layla Stern and husband Richard of Birmingham, AL and Leah Ivey and husband Michael of Tuscaloosa, AL; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Scott of McMinnville; three nephews and special friend, Thomas Owens of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2011 in High's Chapel with Mike Hale and Carl Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Smyrna Cemetery.
