JR., Leonard Farr SMITH

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Leonard Farr Smith, Jr., age 92, was born February 14, 1919 and died March 18, 2011 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A machinist, United States Navy veteran of WWII and member of the Smyrna Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Leonard Farr Smith, Sr. and Joanna Pitson Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray, Lewis and Ken Smith and two sisters, Mildred Fell Bussell and Margaret McComber. He was married November 26, 1942 to Marie Boyd Smith of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Claudette Smith of Chatsworth, GA, Leonard and Deborah Smith, III of Morristown, TN, Daniel and Dena Smith of Bowden, GA and Chuck Smith of McMinnville; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother, Steve Smith of McMinnville; two sisters, Joan McGregor of McMinnville and Jean Jennings of Murfreesboro, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2011 at Smyrna Church of Christ with Jonathan Stubblefield officiating. Burial followed in the Smyrna Cemetery with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
