Winnie Evalee SMOOT

Woodbury, TN resident and White County, TN native Winnie Evalee Smoot, age 89, was born October 31, 1921 and died July 9, 2011 at Woodbury Nursing Center in Woodbury, TN following an extended illness. A retired employee of McMinnville Garment Company and member of the Trousdale Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Joe Edward and Rachel Evalee Medley Austin. She was married to Johnny G. Smoot who preceded her in death April 20, 2008. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Ernest, Dillard, Orvil, Monroe and Brady Austin; two sisters, Melvina Youngblood and Carrie Frazier and daughter-in-law, Brenda Faye Smoot. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John Isaac "Jack" and Gail Smoot of McMinnville and Jim and Jo Ann Smoot of Morrison, TN; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in High's Chapel with Gary Bell, Carl Russell and Mike Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the Trousdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and 9:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at High's.
