Lavada Ann STEAKLEY

McMinnville resident and Ben Hur, VA native Lavada Ann Steakley, age 83, was born September 7, 1927 and died March 9, 2011 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired employee of Richardson Independent School District in Richardson, TX and member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Annie Lee Delph Tritt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Joy Ann Steakley and Joyce and Lois Powers; grandson, Travis Steakley; two sisters, Iona Willis Harper and Thelma Crutchfield and four brothers, Edgar, Everett, Willgus and Burchell Tritt. She was married to Charles Steakley of McMinnville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children and their spouses, Bonnie Carter of Nashville, TN, Jerry and Earline Steakley and Joan Gail Steakley both of McMinnville and Tiffany and Jason Reed of Lebanon, TN; three grandchildren, Camie Carter, Lori Hendrix and Charles Ethan Steakley; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Tritt of Bristol, VA and Eul Tritt of Rogersville, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 in High's Chapel with Dr. Chris Sparkman officiating. Burial followed in the McElroy Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.
