Flora Rothwell SWAFFORD

McMinnville resident and Bledsoe County, TN native Flora Rothwell Swafford, age 99, was born October 25, 1911 and died September 9, 2011 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following a sudden illness. A retired eighth grade English teacher and member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late George Walter and Ida Elnora Caldwell Rothwell. Mrs. Swafford received her B.S. degree from Tennessee Technological University. She was married to Thomas Aaron Swafford who preceded her in death September 19, 1998. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, Edwin Martin Blankenship. She is survived by one daughter, Bettye Blankenship of McMinnville; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Dr. Brad and Shann Blankenship of Murfreesboro, TN; two great-grandsons, Matthew Blankenship and John Samuel Wright of Murfreesboro, TN; great-granddaughter, Ashley Blankenship of Murfreesboro, TN and sister-in-law, Nora Lee Rothwell of Chattanooga, TN. Funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011 in High's Chapel with Kevin Key and Garland Robinson officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
