Darrell Wayne WALLING

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Darrell Wayne Walling, age 83, was born August 30, 1927 and died January 8, 2011 at Hospice of Chattanooga, TN following an extended illness. He was retired from Genesco and Wilson Sporting Goods and was a member of Westwood Church of Christ where he served as an elder for twenty-two years. Mr. Walling was first and foremost a man after God's own heart. Dearly loved and admired by his family, he not only talked the talk, he lived and breathed God's word. He knew what he believed and why he believed it. He was married June 12, 1947 to Christine "Chris" Clinton Walling who preceded him in death. He is survived by four children and their spouses, Clinton Wayne and Jean Walling of Beaumont, TX, Cindy Lee and Joe V. Saia of Jackson, MS, Jerry Lynn Walling of Hendersonville, TN and Jay Anthony and Debbie Walling of Chattanooga, TN; six grandchildren and their spouses, Terry and Angela Walling and Steven Walling both of Ft. Worth, TX, Joe Saia and Jereme and Jeannie Saia both of Jackson, MS, Katie and Zach Downs of Chickamauga, GA and Jacob Walling of Chattanooga, TN; four great-grandchildren, P.J. Saia, Sean Walling, Sadie Walling and Parker Saia; two sisters and brother-in-law, Geraldine Walling Clark of Celina, TN and Doris Walling and Miles Erwin of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Westwood Church of Christ with Harold Jones and Coy Hathcock officiating. Burial followed in the Mt .View Cemetery.
