Leon BARNES

McMinnville resident and Grundy County, TN native Leon Barnes, age 87, was born August 26, 1924 and died March 28, 2012 at Woodbury Nursing Center in Woodbury, TN following an extended illness. A self-employed practical nurse and member of the Smyrna Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Milton and Emma Mayfield Barnes. In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Barnes, Delma Brown and Magness Walker and four brothers, Livey Barnes, Lonnie Barnes, Vernon Barnes and Alton Barnes. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2012 at Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County, TN with Anthony Wanamaker officiating.
