J.B. GRIBBLE

December 11, 1924 — June 10, 2012

McMinnville resident and DeKalb County, TN native, J.B. Gribble, age 87, was born December 11, 1924 and died June 10, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness. A retired butcher for the Kroger Co. and Cooper & Martin, owner of Gribble's Processing Plant, United States Army Air Corp veteran of WWII and member of Bybee Branch Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Dewey and Sertie Ray Gribble. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Gribble. He was married April 19, 1946 to Christine Fisher Gribble of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and James Goolsby of McMinnville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Gary and Teresa Gribble of Jefferson City, TN and Ron and Angela Gribble of Morrison, TN; sister, Mildred Gribble Glenn of McMinnville; six grandchildren and spouses, Christopher Gribble of Westerly, RI, Holly Hodges of McMinnville, Mandy and Brad Byars of McMinnville, Misty and Jason Joyner of Mt. Carmel, TN, Whitney and Nick Harrell of Morrison, TN and Kaitlyn and Bryan McAdams of Knoxville, TN and three great-grandchildren, Christian Barrett and Saylor Hodges both of McMinnville and Brylyn Kate McAdams of Knoxville, TN. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in High's Chapel with Tony Lawrence officiating. Burial followed in Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels or Boyd Christian School.
