McMinnville resident and DeKalb County, TN native James Loss Herrin, age 82, was born January 15, 1930 and died March 31, 2012 following an extended illness. A retired employee of Carrier Corporation and E.M.S. and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Warren and Martha Steele Herrin. He was married to Wavie Marie Roberts Herrin who preceded him in death March 14, 2009. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Charlie and Frank Herrin and sister, Frances Cantrell. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Ronnie Elrod of McMinnville and Carol Jeanette and Wade Grove of Morrison, TN; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Davy) Pendergraph, Sheila Grove, Heather (Tim) Mears and Alan (Amanda) Elrod; three great-grandchildren, Ben Elrod, Ivy Elrod and Devin Cooke; five brothers, Don Herrin of McMinnville, David Herrin and Calvin Herrin both of the Vervilla Community and Ned Herrin and Ben Herrin both of Morrison, TN; three sisters, Armanda Burgess of the Vervilla Community, Linda Farley of Morrison, TN and Clara Nell Slatton of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 in High's Chapel with Jerry Woodside officiating. Burial followed in the Bascom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals On Wheels c/o High's.
