McMinnville resident and White County, TN native Homer Abb Hicks, age 69, was born August 8, 1942 and died January 15, 2012 at his daughters residence in Douglasville, GA following an extended illness. A retired maintenance supervisor with the City of Atlanta, GA, United States Army veteran of Korea and member of the McMinnville Independent Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Willie and Hannah Cutts Hicks. He was married to Martha Clydena Lathem Hicks who preceded him in death September 23, 2006. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Paisley Hicks; sisters, Edith Dybdal, Billie Simons and Kathie Hicks and brothers, Charles and William Hicks. He is survived by four children, Robert Daniel Hicks and Edward Dwayne Hicks both of McMinnville, Wanda (Freddie) Tippens of Douglasville, GA and Cindy Kropff of Alabama; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers and sister-in-law, Lee and Roger Hicks and Bobby and Jewel Hicks both of Georgia; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Webb of McMinnville and Mary and James Norris and Joyce and Lewis Vollrath both of Georgia and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at McMinnville Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Haston and Dr. Garland Odom officiating. Burial followed in the Morrison Cemetery.
