Herman David 'Dee' Jeter, Jr. of McMinnville, TN passed away Thursday March 1, 2012. Dee was born October 26, 1921 in Kingsport, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty three (63) years, Helen Kern Jeter; parents Herman David Jeter, Sr. and Elizabeth Jane McGuire Jeter; sisters Anna Lee Tipton and husband Joe; Helen Cox and husband Donald; brothers, Willard C. Jeter and wife Bess, James Carl Jeter and wife Kate; nephews Jim Jeter, Ronald Jeter and Donald Cox, Jr.; father and mother-in-law O.M. and Bonnie Kern; sisters-in-law Florence Hood, Bonnie Miller and Joann Hood; brother-in-law Joe Long; niece Amy Hood and son-in-law Kenneth Tolliver. He is survived by daughter Sandra Tolliver of Johnson City, TN; son Dennis Jeter and wife Debbie of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren Richard Hubbard and fiancée Gloria Robles of Morehead City, NC, Dana Denise Griffin and husband Bill and great-grandson Gabe of Lenoir, NC, Jamie Hubbard of Johnson City, TN, Hilary Erin Jeter of Murfreesboro, TN, Graham Jeter of Portland, OR and Ashley Jerrall of Nashville, TN; sister Mildred Jeter Kilbourne of Kingsport, TN; and many nieces and nephews who dearly loved their ?Uncle Dee?. Mr. Jeter was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in engineering and was a long-time employee of General Shale Brick Company. He was owner of Handy Rental Centers in McMinnville and Cookeville, TN. An avid fisherman and hunter, Dee loved time spent with family, friends and close neighbors at his ?Possum Hollow? cabin in Cannon County, TN. Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. in the East Lawn Cemetery with Robert Case officiating.
