Walter Marion MAY

McMinnville resident and Coffee County, TN native Walter Marion May, age 68, was born October 15, 1943 and died January 14, 2012 at Manchester Medical Center in Manchester, TN following an extended illness. A retired employee of Carrier, United States Army veteran and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Raymond Roper and the late Beatrice May Abney. He was married to Nancy Davis May who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Johnny "Gene" Rogers. He is survived by two children, Sandy May Banda of Illinois and Matthew May of Texas; three grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Rogers and Martha and Joe Hennessee both of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service and interment was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Bill Eversole officiating. Full military honors were administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
