Dorothy Jean WOMACK

McMinnville resident and DeKalb County, TN native Dorothy Jean Womack, age 84, was born January 31, 1928 and died February 1, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following a sudden illness. A homemaker and member of the Highland Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Fonnie and Della May Harris Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, John B. Carter; brother, John B. "Brownie" Carter and three sisters, Dora Kay Algie, Alvie George and Carolyn June McCormick. She was married August 30, 1947 to J.C. Womack of McMinnville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Gary T. and Wanda Womack of Sparta, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Ralph Smith of Indiana; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers and Fonnie "Nick" Carter and Albert Carter both of McMinnville; two sisters, Maxie Gordy of Las Vegas, NV and Janice Doak of McMinnville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 in High's Chapel with Alan Collins officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory.
