Ferrell Dixon YOUNG

McMinnville resident and Elba, AL native Ferrell Dixon Young, age 92, was born February 21, 1919 and died February 19, 2012 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired civil servant, United States Navy veteran of WWII and member of Central Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Joseph Taylor and Evie Foley Young. He was married February 4, 1944 to Daisy Ruth Smith Young who preceded him in death December 25, 2010. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Dixon Young; three sisters, Sarah Gunter, Annie Jo Ingram and Nell Cook and two brothers, Fred and John Young. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Doctors Samuel L. and Linda Young of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Dr. Loriene Young Sites of Nashville, TN and Hunter Leigh MacDonald of McMinnville and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service and interment was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in Gardens of Memory with Dick Scott-Welch officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Church of Christ Benevolent Fund, or Mountain TOP Christian Outreach Program c/o McMinnville First United Methodist Church.
