Joe Preston CANTRELL

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Joe Preston Cantrell, age 84, was born February 17, 1928 and died July 28, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Nashville, TN following an extended illness. The retired owner of Cantrell's Transmission, United States Army veteran of Korea and member of the East End Church of Christ, he was the son of the late James Monroe and Zinnie Martin Cantrell. He was married November 7, 1953 to Lucille Madewell Cantrell who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Emma Cantrell Mullican, Mary Katherine Cantrell and Willie C. Cantrell Tittsworth and four brothers, Keffer Cantrell, Rayburn Cantrell, Virgil Cantrell and Lewis Cantrell. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl L. and Pam Cantrell and Jerry and Meredith Cantrell both of McMinnville; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa J. and Greg Holder of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Heather Cantrell of Nashville, TN, Jennifer Cantrell of Murfreesboro, TN and Treyton Cantrell and Elena Holder both of McMinnville; brother, Bee Cantrell of Ozark, AL; sister, Christine Cantrell Tucker of Dalton, GA; sister-in-law, Juanita Cantrell of Rock Island, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in High's Chapel with Kevin Key and Ray Weddington officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
