C.N. WOMACK

January 9, 1920 — August 21, 2012

McMinnville resident and Warren County native C.N. Womack, age 92, was born January 9, 1920 and died August 21, 2012 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Womack was a retired educator with Warren County School System and F.C. Boyd, Sr. Christian School, United States Navy veteran of WWII and member of the Westwood Church of Christ where he served as a longtime elder. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Rotary International. He was president at Boyd Christian School for eighteen years, former superintendent of McMinnville City School System, former minister at Berea Church of Christ, former McMinnville City Alderman, past-president of Cheer Mental Health, past-chairman of the March of Dimes and numerous other organizations. He was the son of the late Orion Monroe and Ollie Ray Glenn Womack, Sr. He was married March 7, 1944 to Alda Edweena Haley Womack who preceded him in death November 19, 2006. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Lee Womack. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Edward Jones of Spring Hill, TN; two granddaughters, Shellie Hurt of Columbia, TN and Kelley Bennett of Santa Fe, TN; great-granddaughter, Taylor Hurt of Columbia, TN; brother, O.M. Womack, Jr. of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 at Westwood Church of Christ with Bobby Newby and Justin King officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Memorial contributions may be made to Westwood Church of Christ or Cheer Mental Health.
