Daisy Lee GROVES

McMinnville resident and Sequatchie County, TN native Daisy Lee Groves, age 89, was born July 28, 1923 and died September 8, 2012 at her residence following a sudden illness. A retired employee of Genesco and member of the Bethany Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Margaret Joanna Reece Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Peggy June Copeland; four sisters, Agnes Davis, Mary Irene Yates, Grace Martin and Callie Martin and three brothers, Clarence, Bill Willis and Ivie Martin. She was married August 31, 1940 to Oscar Groves of McMinnville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one brother, Lewis Martin of Maryville, TN; son-in-law, Thomas Wayne Copeland of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Beatrice Martin of Alabama; brother-in-law, James Thomison of McMinnville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great-nephews. Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2012 in High's Chapel with David Costello and Titus Ward officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
