McMinnville resident and Giles County, TN native Macie D. Tate, age 89, was born December 3, 1922 and died September 3, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following a brief illness. A retired employee of Rockford Textile Mills and member of the Mt. Leo Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late John and Jessie Hickman Colvett. She was married to Roy Forrest Tate who preceded her in death December 23, 1996. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Debra Prater and John Thomas Tanner; three sisters, Lacy McGee, Esther Pearl Brewer and Gracie Crabtree and brother, John Allen Colvett. She is survived by seven children and their spouses, Larry Tate, David and Sandy Tate and Connie Tate all of McMinnville; Faye Tate Prater Smith of Murfreesboro, TN; Ann Burch and Wanda and Laymon Tanner of the Centertown Community and Sue and Wendell Talley of Nashville, TN; sister, Juan Colvett of Prospect, TN; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, six step-great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in High's Chapel with David Costello and Wendell Talley officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery on Highway 30.
