McMinnville resident and Grundy County, TN native Morton Willard Tate, age 87, was born August 24, 1925 and died October 8, 2012 at Alive Hospice @ St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following a brief illness. A retired nurseryman with Mid South Nursery and United States Army veteran of WWII and Korea, he was the son of the late Albert and Pearl King Tate. Mr. Tate attended the Baptist Church. In additon to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Jasper, Paul, Leslie, Roscoe and Edward Tate and three sisters, Lucinda Johnson, Iola Tate and Berton Walker. He was married October 26, 1962 to Frances Sanders Tate of McMinnville. In additon to his wife, he is survived by three children and thier spouses, Regina and Richard White and Elaine Fults both of McMinnville and Windell and Sherry Tate of Rock Island, TN; six grandchildren, Stephanie Tate of Florence, AL, Bryan Tate of Knoxville, TN and Tyler Fults, Heather Fults, Jeffrey White and Nicholas White all of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in High's Chapel with Phillip Dahl Barrett and Dennis Sons officiating. Burial will follow in the Philiadlphia Cemetery in Grudy County, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at High's.
