David Howard Slaughter

McMinnville resident and Warren County native David Howard Slaughter, age 78, was born March 20, 1934 and died November 27, 2012 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired employee of Batesville Casket Company, United States Air Force veteran of Korea and member of Philadelphia The Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Frank G. and Velma Jennings Slaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Micha Louise Slaughter and step-father, James Henry Killian. He is survived by three children, Pamela Ann (Jay) Hamilton of Coldwater, TN, Carl D.W. Slaughter of the Irving College Community and Dustin Slaughter of McMinnville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty (Ralph) Smartt and Patsy Tate both of Beersheba Springs, TN and Wilma Wanamaker of McMinnville; brother, Charles (Wanda) Killian of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 in High's Chapel with Wendell Judkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday at High's.
