McMinnville resident and Warren County native Billy Joe Hudson, age 72, was born July 29, 1940 and lost his battle with cancer December 21, 2012. The retired owner and operator of Smartt's Grocery and member of the Mt. Leo Church of Christ, he was the son of the late James Franklin and Audrey Bouldin Hudson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Larry Hudson and two sisters, Geneva Brimer and Willie Ann Summers. He was married September 15, 1961 to Linda Smartt Hudson of McMinnville. Mr. Hudson was an avid fisherman and lover of life on the river. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and David Stinson and Heather and Casey Williamson both of McMinnville; son, Kyle Hudson of McMinnville; grandchildren, Cole and Abram Stinson, Chloe and Nate Williamson, McKenzie Hillis and Jayla Hudson all of McMinnville; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Frances Hudson, David and Jeannie Hudson, Henry and Frances Hudson and Ronnie Hudson all of McMinnville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Frankie and Charles Leverett and Sue Cagle both of McMinnville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2012 in High's Chapel with Lane Dix officiating. Burial will follow in the Armstrong Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday and 10:00 a.m. until time of service Sunday at High's. Memorial contributions may be made to Relay For Life, Meals On Wheels or Mt.
