Velma Lucille Matheney

Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Velma Lucille Matheney, age 82, was born September 28, 1930 and died January 2, 2013 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following a short illness. A retired seamstress and member of Fall City Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Herman L. and Martha Ethel Mayfield Jones. She was married to Carl Benton Matheney who preceded her in death in 1996. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Bouldin and brother, Willard Jones. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Regina Matheney of Rock Island, TN; two grandchildren, Ben Matheney of McMinnville and Neil Matheney of Rock Island, TN; brother-in-law, John Bouldin of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Wilma Jones of Ohio; special nieces and nephews, Ann and Corker DeLoach of McMinnville and Bino and Sherry Bouldin of Rock Island, TN and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 in High's Chapel with Joey Spicer and Jackie Matheny officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at High's.
