McMinnville resident and Sequatchie County, TN native Cecil Etherege Minton, age 77, was born December 30, 1935 and died January 3, 2013 at River Park Hospital following a brief illness. A retired manager and tool and die maker with A.O. Smith, United States Army veteran of Korea and member of the Rolling Acres Brethren In Christ Church, he was the son of the late Waymon H. and Wilma Earlene McCarver Minton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Clayborn Minton. He was married May 8, 1959 to Mollie Powers Minton of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Greta Porter Minton of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Zachary Minton and wife Kati and Wesley Minton and fiancee Victoria Woods; great-grandson, Easton Lake Minton; brother, Howard Minton of Dunlap, TN; two sisters, Betty Stoker of Dunlap, TN and Lois Grammer of Shelbyville, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 in High's Chapel with Ernie Webber and Tony Smedley officiating. Burial will follow in the White Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and 10:00 a.m. until time of service Sunday at High's. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Faith Mission c/o High's.
