Maurice Dwight Burger

McMinnville resident and Cannon County, TN native Maurice Dwight Burger, age 65, was born May 11, 1947 and died January 8, 2013 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following a two-month illness. The owner of Exchange Furniture Company, Inc., United States Army veteran of Vietnam and member of Covenant Fellowship Church, he was the son of the late Samuel Medford and Emma Lee Sparkman Burger. Mr. Burger was an avid golfer and owner of Burger's Custom Golf. He was married to Sandra Ware Burger of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Albert Prater of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Marcie Burger of McMinnville; eight grandchildren, Clinton Mansell, Andrew Mansell, Allie Thomas, Ethan Thomas, Julieann Thomas, Sydney Burger, Tyler Waldrop and Tyler Prater; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma Witty and Rachel and James Hayes both of Murfreesboro, TN and Sandra and Larry Lancin of Henderson, TN and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Covenant Fellowship Church with Dean Northcutt and Kenny McNatt officiating. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery with full military honors administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m Friday at High's and 10:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Covenant Fellowship Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Academy Aspire or Legacy Fund c/o High's.
