Herbert Alois Klasek

July 25, 1924 — January 30, 2013

McMinnville resident and St. Louis, MO native Herbert Alois Klasek was born July 25, 1924 and died January 30, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Klasek served in the United States Navy during WWII, assigned to the PBY aircraft as an aerial gunner. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where Mr. Klasek served in various offices as well as post commander. He served as a member of the honor guard for military funerals for fifty years. His professional career included forty-five years as an engineer for Century Electric Company (later Gould and Magnetek). He was one of nine colleagues from Century Electric's main plant in St. Louis to begin the first branch of Century Electric in McMinnville in 1960. Upon retirement from his work as an engineer, he served as Warren County's safety supervisor for twenty years. A Roman Catholic his entire life, Mr. Klasek was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in McMinnville. Mr. Klasek enjoyed his family and friends, golf, gardening, travel, involvement in community and church organizations. Mr. Klasek was the son of the late Frank J. and Theresa Schmidt Klasek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Martin A. "Marty" Klasek and siblings, Leona, Florence, Raymond, Robert, Elmer, Walter, Eugene and Irene. He was married to his wife of sixty-four years, Frances E. Harness Klasek. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Rev. Stephen A. Klasek, Theresa Klasek Glover and Susan Klasek Mosler and husband Alan; grandchildren, Sarah Glover (Scott) Heston, Elizabeth F. Glover, Matthew H. (Michelle) Mosler, Katherine S. "Katie" Mosler, Michael K. (Amanda) Mosler, Sarah E. "Beth" Klasek (Richard) Cox and Andrew S. Klasek; great-grandchildren, Megan Heston, Jacob Heston, Layla Mosler, Chloe Mosler and Brasco Cox; sister, Corrine and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church with Father David Cooney and Father Steve Klasek officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday with a vigil service to be held at 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Saturday at High's. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 5064 Honor Guard or St. Catherine's Catholic Church both c/o High's.
